Welcome to the website of the master´s program specialization
"Mind and Brain"
This Master's specialisation focuses on fundamental psychological phenomena such as perception, attention, empathy, social cognition, aesthetics and the human dimension in environmental issues. These topics are investigated using a variety of approaches, including laboratory experiments, field studies, neuroimaging, computational modelling and meta-analytical approaches.
Choose this focus, ...
- if you want to get to the bottom of psychological phenomena
- if you are interested in interdisciplinary research
- if you want to get to know state-of-the-art research infrastructure (e.g. imaging of the human brain, VR, eye-tracking...)
- if you want to apply the latest findings in basic psychological research to applications
In this Master's programme, you will work closely with researchers on a wide range of topics. This opens up a wide range of career paths.
Career paths - some examples:
- You investigate what positive effects aesthetic sensation in art and culture can have on our well-being.
- You research the neurophysiological foundations of memory, perception and attention and their practical implications.
- Using brain research, you gain new insights into complex phenomena such as empathy and anxiety disorders and their treatment.
- You examine how robust research findings are (e.g. meta-analyses on suicidality, mindfulness), how research ticks (metascience) and get to know sustainable research practices (open science).
- You apply artificial intelligence methods to develop assistance systems for more effective exposure therapy for phobias.
- Through a better understanding of the human dimension of environmental problems, you develop new approaches to promote more environmentally friendly behaviour.
